COURSE OUTLINE

Participants will attend a full-day, 8 hour hands-on workshop which focuses on digital dentistry background, techniques, and case-based learning. This course aims to describe the background, theory, and procedures related to intraoral optical image production and generating open stereolithography files to utilize in image fusion on cone-beam CT radiographs to enhance visualization and assist in implant treatment planning and fabricating surgical guides. Finally, participants will actively utilize intraoral scanners and CBCT machines and learn how they can be utilized with 3D printing technology.




COURSE OBJECTIVES


• Understand principles, theory and procedures of intraoral optical scanning technology

• Exposure to information related to image manipulation and stereolithography

• Acquire knowledge and confidence in utilizing optical images to join restorative images on cone-beam CT scans

• Exposure with 3D printing surgical guides and models to prepare them for use in surgical procedures

ABOUT DR. SCHERER

Dr. Michael Scherer is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University, a Clinical Instructor at University of Nevada – Las Vegas, and maintains a practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Sonora, California. He is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, has published articles, DVD training series, and in‐person and online courses related to implant dentistry, clinical prosthodontics, and digital technology with a special emphasis on full‐arch reconstruction. As an avid technology & computer hobbyist, Dr. Scherer’s involvement in digital implant dentistry has led him to develop and utilize new technology with CAD/CAM surgical systems, implement interactive CBCT implant planning, and outside of the box radiographic imaging concepts. Dr. Scherer also maintains online education: Two formal courses: 1‐ Fast‐Track Digital Dentistry &
